Through the course of life, from cradle to grave, we all become subject to all manner of trauma or postural adaptation caused by a variety of circumstances including, sports related injury or work. Such incidents, if left unresolved, can have an accumulative effect resulting in pain and discomfort as we grow older.
Osteopathy is an established, state regulated and recognised system of diagnosis and treatment which places its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body. It is distinctive in that it recognises that much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from poor function of the body's structure as a result of the damage caused by disease and trauma.
ensuring the whole body begins to work and move in a more balanced way
Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures used in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis, but its main strength lies in the unique way the client is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint. Post-diagnosis, a manual method of treatment is applied to suit the needs of the client. Our aim is to restore tissue flexibility where it has been reduced or lost, allowing the whole body to work and move in a more balanced way.
Osteopathic treatment is not aimed at just treating the symptoms, but seeks to address the underlying causative factors and considers other parts of the body that may be having an affect or are also being affected.
